Astronomy Group

The Astronomy Group of the Instituto de Alta Investigación (IAI) at Universidad de Tarapacá (UTA) conducts frontier research in observational and theoretical astrophysics.

Founded in 2019, our group takes advantage of the privileged geographic location and clear skies of northern Chile to contribute to the understanding of the cosmos.

Our research lines span from the formation, evolution, and characterization of stars and exoplanetary systems to the structure of our Galaxy and the study of the most energetic phenomena in the Universe.
